Award Criteria and Format

The AVVBA Distinguished Service Award was established in 2023 to formally recognize Members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to Veterans and to the AVVBA Organizational mission. This award is normally made on an annual basis, or at the call of the Board of Directors.

Any member or honorary member in good standing is eligible to be nominated and to receive the award. Any AVVBA member in good standing may submit nominations to the Board of Directors. Then, the Board of Directors will review each nomination for eligibility and select an awardee or awardees who best meet the award criteria.

Nominees who are not selected will remain on a merit list and will be automatically reconsidered in later reviews. Individual recognition awards and inscription on a Perpetual Plaque will be presented at an appropriate ceremony. Members may only receive a single award and will not be eligible for renomination.
